How in the world is it already July 3rd? June just stuck his head in the door to say hello, the off he went, leaving behind hot weather!
We all tend to get a little more busy this time of year. It's the time of year our kids are out of school. Vacations are planned, family visiting, gardens planted, and it's not respiratory season...so we can get out of the house!!
For us, it's been a pretty stinky summer so far. Max has been in the hospital for 18 days today. He had a problem with his large intestine, requiring surgery to fix it. The surgery went very well, but he's been in the hospital fighting infection for over 2 weeks.
We spent Memorial Day, Father's Day, and we'll spend Independence Day in Children's Hospital. It's easy to feel extra isolated from society when you're in the hospital on holidays. It's like the whole rest of the world is still spinning, and we're standing still, stuck.
But, we try to make it fun for Max while we're in the hospital. Today, a couple of clowns came to visit the hospital. Max has never seen clowns in person before, so I didn't know how he would react. But, for the first time in over two weeks, I saw my boy acting like himself. He was smiling and joking along with these goofy old guys who give up their Sunday mornings dressed like Jesters to get a smile out of sick kids.

Here's to more smiles, and a healthy rest of your summer!
